1098 CHILDLINE is India’s first 24-hour, free, emergency phone service for children in need of aid and assistance. Through a network that taps both government departments and non-profits across India, Childline is able to reach to children in distress in all corners of the country. and provide long-term care as required. CCDT partners with Childline India Foundation to respond to any calls on 1098 or cases from Dahisar to Andheri.

The CCDT team enhances public awareness of the importance of child protection and child rights through mass outreach activities including disseminating leaflets, posters, banners and stickers with information on the helpline, as well as conducting street plays in communities. Leveraging the large crowds that flock to public spaces during festivals, CCDT organized a mass outreach program during Ganpati in August, to promote awareness of the helpline. The team met community-based organizations, youth mandals and mahila mandals in Malad, Borivali east and Kandivali, and performed street plays on child protection and the 1098 service during cultural activities organized in these areas—reaching over 1500 people.
