Highlights of Residential Care Program (Shelter home), - Restoring a wholesome childhood to children in crisis, providing opportunities for their growth and development till they are either reintegrated with their family, or extended family, or start living in group homes or on their own

Case Study:

Laxmi works as a receptionist and doctor’s assistant after having completed a course in Hospital Reception and Spoken English. However, life had not been easy for her since childhood.

Having lost her mother to HIV and TB at an age of 9 months, Laxmi was brought to Ashray, her home for the next 12 years. Laxmi tested HIV negative, but at the age of 8 years, was diagnosed with Hepatitis B, which was successfully cured following rigorous counselling, by CCDT staff, to take her medicines timely.

Laxmi has been a part of CCDT now for over 21 years and has become known for her honest and hardworking nature. As she herself says, ‘Life has taken a full circle for me! I now work and live on my own in the community. I look forward to my bright future and plan to complete my graduation.
